Religious Emblems for Cub Scouts

"A Scout is reverent." All Scouts show this by being devote to their faith. Some go further and give special service. This can qualify them for a religious emblem. Such an emblem is not a Scouting award, however, the Boy Scout of America has approved these programs and allows the emblems to be worn on the official Scout uniform. It is conferred on a Scout by his religious leader. Each faith has its own requirements for earning its emblem.

Most of the awards consist of bar pins, ribbons, and pendants, and are worn on the uniform above the left pocket on formal occasions. In addition, the Religious Emblem Square knot, (shown at right), may be worn on the uniform over the left pocket by youth or adults who earned or have been awarded the religious awards. One or more miniature devices are affixed to the knot to indicate which level(s) of the award was earned.

Pack 042 Statement on Religious Program

Pack 042 is chartered through St Richard's Catholic Community and is an integral part of the organization's Youth Program. Religious Emblem programs will be focused towards the Catholic faith, HOWEVER Pack 042 does NOT discriminate, but rather encourages religious diversity within it's Pack. The important emphasis is that Cub Scouting Youth discover, and explore further their particular faith through their respective Religious Program.

A Scout is faithful in his religious duties and respects the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion.
