Everything that happens in our pack is the result of adult and parent volunteers. You may choose to become a Registered Scout Leader or just help out. Whatever your talents, we need and want your help. We can find a volunteer position for you, either short term or long term.  Your help is what makes the Pack 042 Scouting Program successful and of high quality.

Cub Scout Pack 042 Parental Volunteer Needs

  

Camping

  
 
Pack 042 Camping Coordinator

Approximate monthly time commitment : unknown

 

This person is responsible for helping the Pack Committee, Cubmaster, and Den Leaders with the selection, scheduling, notification, and organization of Den and Pack Camping held throughout the year.  This is a new position that will define itself over the course of the Scouting year.  The ideal person will have exceptional organization skills and a creative intuition to help further define and develop Pack 042's camping program.

 

Pack Meetings

  
 
Snack Coordinator

Approximate yearly time commitment : 4 hours

 

This position is responsible for purchasing and providing the Pack Snack for specified Pack Meetings. Volunteer will be reimbursed each month for approved snack allowance.  Snacks need to be ready for Scouts 5 minutes prior to official Pack Meeting start time (usually 6:45 p.m.)  This individual will also be responsible for insuring snack area is cleaned up after snacks are completed (usually by 7:00 p.m.)  Not all pack meetings require snacks and dates will be provided to volunteer along with budget..


 
Pack Clean Up Coordinator

Approximate yearly time commitment : 4 hours

 

This person simply helps insure that we leave our Pack Meeting location cleaner than we found it.  While most Pack Leadership sticks around, (as well as some parents) to help clean up, this person will help expedite the clean up process. Insuring tables and chairs are put away or arranged accordingly, floors are swept / vacuumed, trash is picked up and removed, etc. One of the easiest volunteer opportunities we have, and one of the most necessary.


 
Pack Photographers

Approximate time of commitment : unknown

 

Got a digital camera?  Why not bring it and help us photo journal the happenings of the Pack 042 den meetings, pack meetings, and other activities.  Simply take photos and forward to the webmaster on the Pack 042 website for inclusion on the photos page, it's that simple.  Volunteer commits to attending most den/pack activities to take photos.

Halloween Party Coordinator
 

Responsible for coordinating with Pack Committee, Pack Treasurer, and Cubmaster in areas of organizing, managing, and executing the activity portion of the October Pack Meeting - Halloween Party.


 
Christmas Party Coordinator
 

Responsible for coordinating with Pack Committee, Pack Treasurer, and Cubmaster in areas of organizing, managing, and executing the activity portion of the December Pack Meeting - Christmas Party

 
 

Wreath Sales Fundraising

  
 
Wreath Chairperson
 

Responsible for coordinating with Pack Committee, Pack Treasurer, and Cubmaster in areas of organizing, managing, and executing the Wreath Sales for Pack 042.  Most of this position has been refined over the years and little to no creativeness is necessary.  It is a position that requires good organizational skills and an ability to manage an accumulation of tasks over a period of about three months.  The tasks themselves are usually pretty easy, however there are numerous small tasks that are time sensitive and affect the success of our one annual fundraising event.  Preferred if position was filled with commitment to be Pack Committee Member.


 
Assistant Wreath Chairperson
 

Responsible for working with the Wreath Chairperson as well as learning the processes in order to effectively be the Wreath Chairperson in a coming year.
 


 
Wreath Parish Coordinator

Approximate time of commitment : 4 hours

This position (1 for each Parish) will coordinate the wreath sales (in October) by Scouts before and after the Parish's masses on the specified Parish Wreath Sales Weekend. (Sign up sheets will be put out at Pack Meetings for sign up) In addition, this position is responsible for working with the Parish itself to insure that wreaths, garland, and such are purchased from a Pack 042 Scout or the Pack directly for the parish's decorating.  Finally, this person will act as a Parish contact with regard to Wreath sales, needs, and contacts during the Wreath Sale ordering and delivery dates.


 
Wreath Order Prep

Approximate time of commitment : 2 hours

This position (3 total) will assist the Wreath Chairperson and Wreath Assistant Chairperson, one evening in November (date and time usually are on a weeknight in the evening and will be provided when delivery is scheduled) helping to put wreath orders together for individual Scouts to pick up on pick up date.

 

Blue and Gold Banquet

  
 
Blue & Gold Banquet Chairperson

Approximate time of commitment : 8 hours

 

Responsible for coordinating with Pack Committee, Pack Treasurer, and Cubmaster in areas of organizing, managing, and executing the Blue and Gold Banquet. Held each February, this is the "formal" banquet for the more special awards and recognitions of Pack 042.  A family event with food, entertainment, and fun.  This person will be responsible for securing an event location as well as the meal arrangements and coordination. This position will work with other volunteers for the Blue and Gold Banquet and bring the event together.


 
Assistant Blue & Gold Chairperson

Approximate time of commitment : 8 hours

 

Responsible for working with the Blue & Gold Banquet Chairperson as well as learning the processes in order to effectively be the Blue & Gold Chairperson in a coming year.


 
Blue & Gold Entertainment Coordinator

Approximate time of commitment : 2 hours

 

Responsible for coordinating with Pack Committee, Pack Treasurer, Cubmaster, and Blue & Gold Banquet Chairperson the entertainment portion of the Blue & Gold Banquet.  An approved budget will be made available to this person to find a Scouting and age appropriate entertainment for the event.


 
Blue & Gold Banquet Decorations

Approximate time of commitment : 3 hours

 

This group of people will be responsible for coordinating and decorating the event location for the annual Blue & Gold Banquet.  These volunteers will work with budget allotment from the Blue & Gold Banquet Chairperson and will also be responsible for decorating the event location prior to the event.


 
Blue & Gold Clean Up Crew

Approximate time of commitment : 1 hour

 

This group will assist in the tear down and clean up of the event location (as needed) after the Blue & Gold Banquet, and should take less than an hour.

 

Pinewood Derby Workshop

  
 
Pinewood Derby Workshop Foremen

Approximate time of commitment : 2 hours

 

This group should be experienced with the use of power tools and possibly even be able to provide some for use and assistance with the Scouts during this workshop. These Workshop foremen will have a station in which they will assist Scouts in the shaping of their pinewood derby cars.  Safety gear is required

Responsible for coordinating with Pack Committee, Pack Treasurer, and Cubmaster in areas of organizing, managing, and executing the Pinewood Derby event. Held each March, this is THE even most Scouts and Families look forward to (and join Scouts for).  A family event with food, entertainment, and fun.  This person will be responsible for securing an event location as well as the snack arrangements and coordination. This position will work with other volunteers for the Pinewood Derby and bring the event together.


 
Assistant Pinewood Derby Chairperson

Approximate time of commitment :12 hours

 

Responsible for working with the Pinewood Derby Chairperson as well as learning the processes in order to effectively be the Blue & Gold Chairperson in a coming year.


 
Pinewood Derby Result Coordinator

Approximate time of commitment : 8 hours

 

Responsible for the scheduling of races, tracking of results, schedule printout coordination, and with the assistance of the Pinewood Derby Chair insure a smooth and time efficient race day.  Will also need to coordinate with Donations / Sponsors Coordinator to insure Sponsor Race is properly coordinated. This position is the lead judge and will coordinate Pinewood Derby Judges, Starters, and Runners for race day with assistance from Chairpersons.


 
Pinewood Derby Starters

Approximate time of commitment : 3 hours

 

This group of people will be responsible for helping to get the pinewood derby cards organized and on the track for their proper race heats. This duo will work together to keep the race day heats moving quickly and accurately.


 
Pinewood Derby Judges

Approximate time of commitment : 3 hours

This group will assist in the determination of race finishing positions.  Positioned at the end of the track these judges determination race finishing order. One of the judges will radio results back to the Results Coordinator for real time posting.


 
Pinewood Derby Runners

Approximate time of commitment : 3 hours

These people simply bring the pinewood derby cars back to the race starters after each heat race.


 
Pinewood Derby Registration Crew

Approximate time of commitment : 1 hour

These two people will assist with the sign in and registration of Scouts and others on race day.  These people will need to be at the even an hour before start time to assist with setup and preparation of static display of cars and registration area for event


 
Pinewood Derby Food Crew

Approximate time of commitment : 3 hours

This group will purchase, prepare, and disperse ( cafeteria style) the food for this event.  A "halftime" break will take place at the event where the food will be provided to racers and race fans.  A budget will provided to this group from the Pinewood Derby Chairperson for this event.  This group of people will be responsible for the setup and clean up of the food area.


 
Pinewood Derby Set Up Crew

Approximate time of commitment : 2 hours

This group will setup the race track, arrange the event floor and seating, and help with any decorations for the event.  These people will need to be available for setup two hours prior to the event start time.


 
Pinewood Derby Clean Up Crew

Approximate time of commitment : 1 hour

This group will help clean up after the Pinewood Derby event, including but not limited to track tear down, floor swept/ vacuumed, trash removal, help in loading materials  to appropriate vehicles, etc.
