Pack 042 Awards of Merit
|
|
The Pack 042 Awards of Merit are
given at the discretion of the leadership of Pack 042. A boy may earn one
of these medallions for Pack related service above and beyond the expected level
of performance. Pack leadership may suggest a Scout for this award,
however the Pack 042 Awards of Merit are given out at the expense and discretion
of the Cubmaster. The Pack 042 Awards of Merit may be worn on the Scout's
red vest. A Scout will only be awarded one medallion of each level of the Pack
042 Awards of Merit during his Pack 042 tenure; however, there is no limit to
the number of times a Scout may earn this award. |

|
|
Boys
and adults may wear this strip if they show their knowledge of a foreign
language or the sign language for the hearing impaired |

A Recruiter Strip is awarded to a
Cub Scout the first time he is successful in getting a friend, relative,
classmate, or other acquaintance to join his pack The Recruiter Strip is

Cub Scout
Golden Bow Achievement Patch
(awarded
from the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS)
|

The Golden Bow Achievement Patch can be earned by
any youth Scout member of Pack 042 who helps recruit a new scout into Pack 042.
Submission of this award must be done by the Pack
Leadership and should be done automatically, but give them a friendly reminder
if they forget.

Whittling Chip Card
|
|
Bear Scouts and Webelos Scouts
can earn the Whittling Chip card, which gives them the privilege of carrying a
pocketknife at Cub Scout functions only. The Scout must understand the rules for
safe use of a pocketknife and handle his pocketknife with care. Failure to
follow the guidelines will result in suspension of the carrying privilege.
BSA guidelines provide that the knife must be
a folding knife with a blade shorter than the palm of the boy’s hand |

Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award
|
|
The
first time the award is earned, the boy will receive the pocket flap award which
is to be worn on the right pocket flap of the uniform shirt. Each successive
time the award is earned, a wolf track pin may be added to the flap. |

Leave No Trace Award
|
|
The Leave No Trace Center for
Outdoor Ethics is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting
and inspiring responsible outdoor recreation through education, research and
partnerships. Leave No Trace builds awareness, appreciation and respect for our
environment. In conjunction
with the BSA, Scouts and Scout Leaders can earn the Leave No Trace Award. This
is a temporary patch that can be worn off the button of the right shirt pocket
(only one temporary patch may be worn at a time). |

Snelling Historic Trail Award
|

The Fort Snelling patch is a locally approved National
Historic Trails award. As an individual, den or pack, Scouts can follow
the "scavenger" list to explore and learn of Minnesota's early history and
exploration. |

The BSA Family Award program
includes a series of activities designed to help strengthen all

The World Conservation Award
provides an opportunity for individual Cub Scouts to "think globally" and "act

Emergency Preparedness Award
|
|
The Emergency Preparedness Award
is part of a BSA program of emphasis for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, and
Leaders, in cooperation with the Federal Department of Homeland Security.
Separate age appropriate requirements have been developed. The award may earned
more than once, but only one pin may be worn. A completed application is
submitted to the council and upon approval, an Emergency Preparedness pin is
awarded. The pin may be worn on civilian clothing or on the uniform, centered on
the left pocket flap. |

The Crime Prevention Award can be
earned at EACH level of Cub Scouting, using different requirements.

|

Two important challenges in
preparing youth for the 21st century—particularly in today's increasingly
automated and sedentary culture—are physical fitness and good health.
People who earn the recognition can receive a
special certificate and can purchase and wear the unique BSA Physical Fitness
Award patch. The BSA Physical Fitness Award is worn on the uniform shirt,
centered on the right pocket as a temporary patch. |

United States Heritage Award
|

The United States Heritage Award
was designed to give youth recognition for learning about the heritage of the
United States of America, and being involved.
By completing the United States Heritage
Award, it is hoped greater understanding and pride of our nation will prevail. A
medal and a patch can be awarded to all that successfully complete the award
requirements. The United States Heritage Patch and Medal may be worn on the Cub
Scout Red Vest. |

Cub Scout National Summertime Pack Award
|
|
The purpose
of the National Summertime Pack Award is to encourage packs to provide a
year-round program by continuing to meet during the periods when school is out
of session for several weeks or months
The award consists of an individual pin for youth uniform wear (for qualifying
and participating Scouts), an individual certificate, and a unit/pack banner
(There is also an optional den banner). The pin is worn on the right pocket flap
of the uniform shirt during the year in which it was earned only. After the
award year, the pin is worn on the Scout's red vest. |

The Conservation Good Turn is an
opportunity for Cub Scout packs to join with a conservation or environmental
organization (federal, state, local, or private) to carry out a conservation

needed project that the unit can accomplish.

The Centennial Quality Awards program is designed to
recognize units, districts, councils, areas, and regions in achieving excellence
in providing a quality program to a growing youth population in America at all
levels of the Boy Scouts of America.
In addition, this award has been developed to help
celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Scouting over the next four years and to help
build for the next century of Scouting.
This award is worn on the right sleeve of the
official Scout Uniform. |
